He Left Her Open

“There was a woman, as beautiful as a lotus” a bud. She took her time opening her petals. One by one she opened her petals until they were all reaching towards the sun, bending over backward exposing her core so that she’d be warmed from the inside out.

That sun she put up into the sky. Peered into her life and saw everything even she had set for the day. Creeping in wee hours of the mourning pouring into her mind before it was time. Was he somewhere setting between two new valleys? Or was he resting for rising again the next day?

Too close for comfort. Too close to fully understand. The lotus women turned the sun into a man.

Shortly after he escaped her warm embrace he couldn’t live with his own lies. He took her innocence because he could. Robbed her of her femininity because it was too pure. How did she survive? Well, that’s just the thing. She didn’t. She made more suns into men until she lost all of her power and died.

Nothing to nourish her body because her focus was outwardly chasing a feeling she had never experienced but knew she wanted because people told her it was desirable. No time to understand herself before she let the poison tell her she could be healthier. She had to die to be reborn.

The winter months used to kill her. Now it makes her resilient to the cold. She does not die or kill herself. She hibernates, she spends more time in her cocoon. She blossoms more and more every year adding new seedlings to her surroundings because there is power in numbers.
